In our Select programme bringing you high quality contemporary crafts exhibitions and events.
SIT works to create opportunities for artists to develop their creative practices. It was established in 2005 following 2 years working under an umbrella charity organisation.
Our aim is to celebrate contemporary work that includes all applied arts whilst linking to traditional textile culture. We aim to broaden the perspective of textile arts and crafts to other art forms such as performance, dance, music and the written word.
SIT runs year round events, art exhibitions and educational work that profiles textile skills and a wide range of crafts for all ages and abilities. We have built a reputation nationally and increasingly internationally, for excellence and innovation.
After six years running an annual Festival, in 2011 we launched our new initiative SELECT which is a series of high profile major exhibitions and linked Symposiums and seminars in venues in and around Gloucestershire.
Our Patrons are Mary La Trobe Bateman OBE; Lulu Guinness OBE; and Jilly Edwards, tapestry artist.
