The Stroud district has experienced more than its fair share of British history throughout the last 5000 years. While Hetty Pegler’s Tump, an ancient barrow, dates back to 2800 BC, it is the Industrial Revolution which played a big part in shaping the Stroud district and the south Cotswolds. The cloth producers reached their heyday amidst the clatter of the loom and the power of the waterwheel.
